Energy development continues to play an important role in the economy of the MD of Willow Creek.
The Municipal Development Plan recognizes both traditional energy industries and emerging renewable energy technology.
That includes oil and gas development, wind energy, solar energy, and new technologies like battery energy storage — and highlights how agricultural production and energy development can work together.
The MDP does not provide blanket support for projects. Instead, each proposal is reviewed carefully to consider impacts on agriculture, residents, infrastructure, water, and the rural landscape.
The plan also emphasizes meaningful consultation with residents, landowners, and affected communities throughout the planning process.
The goal is to support responsible development while protecting the long-term interests of the municipality and preserving the values that matter most to residents.

Your feedback will help guide responsible decision-making that balances economic opportunity, agriculture, infrastructure, and community interests.
Together, we can help plan for a strong and resilient future.
